Sustainability
The environment is high on our agenda at Wolds. Our eyes are open to the fact that the construction industry contributes to over 25% of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions*, so we do all we can to limit our impact and help customers lower their carbon footprint.
Here are a few reasons why working with Wolds is a more sustainable choice:
Reduced carbon footprint
All Wolds products are handmade in East Yorkshire, less than 20 minutes from our showroom. Some of the big furniture brands ship orders off to far flung corners of the world, which means your furniture crosses several oceans before it reaches you! Manufacturing locally means we keep transportation emissions to a minimum.
Coupled with this, our directly-employed team all live within 20 miles of our showroom and factory. In working with Wolds, you are supporting a family-owned business and a team that is on hand to deliver.
Responsible sourcing
All Wolds kitchens and interiors are made from responsibly sourced natural timber. Our timber is approved by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) which means it has been sourced sustainably from suppliers who share our commitment to zero deforestation, fair wages, biodiversity protection and community rights. In addition to this, all the products we use are fully recyclable.
Short supply chain
We source all core materials from local suppliers and buy in bulk whenever we can, limiting delivery miles and the associated carbon emissions.
Made to order
No ‘fast furniture’ here – we do not mass produce. All Wolds Furniture is made to order, limiting unnecessary waste and ensuring everything we make has a purpose.
Built to last
We focus on craftmanship and longevity, with experienced joiners and fitters as part of our team. While timber is fully recyclable, our commitment to quality means that all our products are highly durable, made to measure and built to last you a lifetime.
Fit for the future
Our products are all built to stand the test of time, but we know life can happen. Wolds Furniture can easily be repaired, repainted or refreshed with a change of ironmongery.
